National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women's service organization. DAR members volunteer millions of service hours annually in their local communities including supporting active-duty military personnel and assisting veteran patients, awarding scholarships and financial aid each year to students, and supporting schools for underserved children.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on October 11, 1890, with three main objectives:
Patriotism
The Mahoning Chapter, NSDAR, is proud to serve veterans. Daughters donate necessities to the local Veterans Affairs facility, thank them at our annual Veterans Day meeting and participate in the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration.
Education
The Mahoning Chapter, NSDAR, each year endorses Mahoning Valley high school seniors for DAR scholarships and the DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest. Our chapter also donates annually to NSDAR-supported schools and scholarship funds.
Historic Preservation
Historic preservation is one of the key pillars on which NSDAR was founded. Mahoning Chapter, NSDAR, members take pride in being the oldest continuously operating chapter in Ohio.
